free stats package sought

Can anybody suggest a simple free stats package to run on a PC? It
will only be used a couple of times.

It should do basic univariate statistics, maybe plot histograms using
simple ASCII graphics and maybe do correlation. I'll be happy with
basic stats. I need to do 30 cases X 22 variables. Maybe 500 cases
later. I don't need fancy editing; data comes from ASCII files. The
closest thing I found was Mapstat in the Simtel-20 archives but that
seems to be an old Turbo Pascal binary that bombs out with file errors
in unpredictable places.

Alternatively I'll be happy to take C sources and compile them myself.

Please email, I'm not a regular subscriber. Thanks in advance.
