I am unclear on how to fit a normal model with a skew component to a histogram. I can, of course, compute the skew of the data set, but that does not tell me if it is a better model than one without that factor. I would also like to use robust regression because the data set appears to have a few outliers. References? For those interested, the data is a histogram of the lumimosities of low mass stars. Email or post.
