One thing nice about it is that it is free and that there are versions of which run under DOS and UNIX. You should be able to get it at the ftp sight "umnstat.stat.umn.edu". Last summer I took a course called "Financial Data Analysis" where the students were split into groups and each had to make a presentation about available statistical software . Two groups discussed the XlispStat package running on the MAC. Based on their presentations, I was impressed by the "Data Movie" application, the overall graphics (e.g. you could get a 3/D plot and spin it around in any direction), and the ease of use of the package. There was one built in feature, I don't recall precisely what they was - perhaps an CART application- which made the instructor really like it. Documentation is pretty good since a Wiley text explains it all. Obviously, if you already know LISP, you can use the software to enhance what you write. BTW, all that standard stuff for ANOVA , regression, and t statistics is in there too. Regards, Emmett emclean@vax1.sfsu.edu
