I recently received a manuscript to review in which the authors used canonical discriminant analysis to look at the association of certain plant species with different soil types. As a non-statistician and someone familiar only with more traditional multivariate techniques, I would appreciate a brief explanation of canonical discriminant analysis (or a good reference). Gracias.
