Brookhaven National Laboratory smashing ultra-relativistic gold nuclei will give you little Big Bangs. Every Planck-scale spacetime fluctuation is an ultimately small Big Bang - which may be a full sized one. Perhaps physical reality is a reciprocal lattice, and the smallest ones are the biggest ones. OTOH, since that gets things really crowded really quickly (Planck frequency!), maybe Kuratowski's theorem delimits the conditions necessary for a persistent pop.
