You declare that time is constant, which automatically distorts the spatial coordinates to comply with that requirement. Of course the radiation frequency changes. You have distorted space time to achieve that end. This is how the spatial coordinates are distorted for a surface radius clock and a GPS radius clock scenario (easy to recognize and fixed with the ECI frame of course). The transmission is upward from the surface radius clock. If both clocks are deemed to be running at the same rate, the spatial coordinate in the up-down direction is distorted according to 1+GM/r/c^2. Which is 1.0000000006946 to 1 for the surface radius, and 1.0000000001665 to 1 for the GPS radius. The difference is 5.28e-10 to 1. For each second elapsed, the spatial dimension between the two has stretched by 5.28e-10 meters, and 4.55e-5 seconds per sidereal day. That's exactly how much the photon wavelength has been stretched by your time coordinate system. You distort dimension so that your clock rates are identical, then claim that this somehow proves that a photon's frequency decreases, with a wavelength increase as a natural consequence, as it climbs from a gravity well. ??? > if you use a single > master clock with slave clocks at each location that are slaved to the > master via EM pulses (as in Schwarzschild coordinates), then you will > observe that the clock rates change but the radiation frequency does > not. The former is what Pound and Rebka implicitly used, as their > Moessbauer resonators are standard clocks. No, the former is not what Pound and Rebka implicitly used at all. In the real world, time and space are inseparable. A spatial coordinate system produces clock rates that vary with altitude and that gives the illusion of frequency redshift with altitude. By declaring that time is constant, spatial dimension changes proportionally to the clock rate deficit. But nothing has changed. This image (probably needs to be viewed in full screen) http://members.optusnet.com.au/maxkeon/redshft6.jpg or the second image (same image) on the web page http://members.optusnet.com.au/maxkeon/redshft2.html shows the difference. Whichever coordinate system you choose, they are identical. But need to be specified, as you say. The very first image on the web page clearly shows that a "photon wavelength" increase is impossible. From an observation point at a fixed time rate, the number of waves per second that were generated at a surface radius and transmitted to a higher altitude receiver must arrive at the same rate as they were produced if there is no relative motion between the source and receiver. That is a blatantly obvious fact in the spatial dimension, in which everything exists. Since the time coordinate system is only a distortion of the spatial dimension the same story unfolds there as well. Redshifting photon wavelengths can't be squeezed through that window of "truth" either. ----- Max Keon
