We know what we are observing. Without offering
support for any one underlying theory over another,
I say that we have merely plugged CMBR into the
current working theories about the universe rather
than looking seriously outside the current popular
box.

So to clarify:

We know what we are observing and we *think* we
know what that means.

One rather large issue in science is to consider
alternative theories, realizing that we're not
all that far away from having given up the idea
of a steady state universe.

Cranks abound, that's for sure. Which of them, if
any, is a modern day Galileo? Alas, our lives are
too short.

I am not satisfied with the present explanation of
CMBR (along with a lot of other things.) This
forum is not the place to settle such issues nor
will I engage anyone on the matter lest some of
you take the equivalent position of a Father Grassi
as several participants in sci newsgroups are so
fond of doing. (Trust me, that is not a career
builder.)
