Has anyone but me noticed that the temperature of this rock over the
last
few billion years seems to be following a square wave between 12C
and 22C? Giving a geometric mean of 17C, however, being on the
square wave path, the rock never actually spends a lot of time at
the average temperature.  It (the temperature) goes UP!, with
nary a consultation!  Then goes DOWN!  With equal aplomb!
To add insult to injury, paying little regard to atmospheric CO2
or what the mammals think.
