The inherently high noise levels of a biological neuron can be reduced over a specified frequency range using a network of interconnected neurons. These interconnections cause certain statistical temporal patterns to occur in the summed output of a modest number of neurons, and these temporal patterns can dramatically improve the signal-to-noise ratio over a given frequency range -- r b-j rbj@audioimagination.com "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
