RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION IN 
MEDICAL ULTRASOUND

UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MEDICAL CENTER
DEPARTMENT OF RADIOLOGY
BASIC RADIOLOGICAL SCIENCES DIVISION


The ultrasound group of the Basic Radiological Sciences Division seeks
qualified applicants for a postdoctoral Research Associate position to
conduct research in medical ultrasound and some x-ray imaging. The
position can be fit somewhat to applicant's abilities, emphasizing
either experimental and instrumentation or computers/analytical work.
The effort includes the areas of 3D ultrasound (US) imaging, acoustic
scattering theory, signal and image processing, US-US and US-X-ray
image fusion, CAD, flow and elasticity quantification. It can involve
theory, software development, electronic & mechanical hardware
development, basic laboratory research, animal &, particularly,
clinical studies and analysis thereof. The appointment is for a
duration of 1 year, likely renewable for additional years, and is to
be filled immediately. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in
Physics, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics or related
field. Experience, publications, and/or graduate training are desired
in several of the following: imaging system or physics/bioengineering
research system experimental design & development; acoustical physics,
signal/image processing & computer programming. This position will
provide the candidate with the opportunity to operate within an
academic setting with strong interactions with industrial research
partners, providing both experience and contact within the medical
ultrasound and medical image processing communities. Applicants should
