So why not take the extra few weeks to do a formal RFD/CFV in
news.groups and create it as comp.dcom.cable-modems or such?  (I don't
think it should be under modems, as they are no more modems than ISDN
TAs, despite the names.)

There should be no controversy that would keep it out of the big 8, and
there is no previous group history that would provide a reason to keep
it in alt.  I would anticipate a sufficient discussion base to justify
the group, seeing that there are currently about 20 related posts in
hawaii.inet-providers alone, and that cable modem technology and
services are just starting on the upswing nationally.
