Yes, I agree.  The US is doing nothing to prevent overpopulation.
Everything that the government has done so far seems to promote population
growth.  Though you have a good point, it has one flaw.  If you focus on
making cars unsafe, you're focusing on its effect on people without taking
the environment into consideration.  At the same time, no one, including me
(believe it or not :)  ), would support something that kills innocent
people.  Tougher standards are needed for cars and companies to improve the
air quality, while education and taxes are needed to help in reversing
population growth and promoting the usage of renewable energy resources.
