May : Dani Kuettel find less mediocre articles to inflict upon us, or even better: : stop completely and do it himself. Nex This is so true. As someone who loves to read and who loves the written word, I found this piece so banal it was hard to stomach. If one is looking for better insight (and a substantially more effective piece) on the harms of the city, "Tokens of Mystery," by Scott Russell Sanders would be a good place to start. It's worth a read just for the sheer pleasure of experiencing what he does with words, regardless of one's opinions re: the environment. --sarah "Of course, like all reasonably afluent cities that take the burdens of enlightenment seriously, Boston provides its children with places to confront nature, as it were, in the flesh. Chief among these are the zoo, where morose animals pace in cages; the aquarium, where fish circle in tanks; the arboretum, where trees that never rub limgs in the wild grow side by side and bear identifying labels; and the sceince museum, where the universe comes packaged in mind-sized dollops, usually jazzed up with electronices." --Scott Russell Sanders, in "Tokens of Mystery"
