NETCOM can be your gateway to economical communications world
wide. A connection to the NETCOM state-of-the-art network will
deliver connectivity at very affordable prices. NETCOM offers
Internet connections, news feeds, electronic mail, local access
points throughout California, source archives, large discounts
on communication equipment, consulting, and everything you would
expect from a leading communication service provider.
As the calendar year rolls over to 1993, NETCOM enters it's 5th
year as a reliable provider of quality services in the California.
It's customers include; large defense contractors, chip manufacturers,
Oil Companies, Large Computer Manufacturers, insurance companies,
and investment companies. NETCOM has proven to be a communication
leader in terms of low cost, high quality and reliable connectivity
around the clock, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
Until now, it has not been economically feasible for small to
midsize companies to make a direct Internet connection. Traditional
connections have required large capital expenditures for initial set up
fees and large recurring monthly service connection charges. NETCOM
provides a low cost connection alternative that allows either a direct
leased line or a dialup connection for less than $200.00 a month,
and a moderate set up fee.
There are several ways to establish your connection. If you are
considering an Internet connection or a News/Mail feed, please contact
one of our account representatives by phone. Your representative will be
happy to discuss connection alternatives, equipment lease or purchases
and network planning.
If you are considering a personal account, you can register over the
voice line or via the guest account. The guest account will not allow
shell access, however, it will provide you with a menu driven environment
that will allow you to register online. Personal accounts can be activated
within 4 business hours if they are prepaid with VISA or MASTERCARD.
To access the guest account, make sure that your communication settings
are 8-1-N and use VT100 for a terminal emulator. After you connect,
log in as "guest". Remember, you must use lower case letters and you
will not be asked for a password. You can also log in via telnet by using
netcom.netcom.com or an IP address of 192.100.81.100. The following are
