Stardock has just released a FREE demo version of its popular Galactic  
Civilizations 2 (GalCiv 2) game for OS/2 Warp! This fully playable strategy 
game demo allows you to get a taste of what is available in the actual 
commercial version.  
  
GalCiv 2 is an advanced strategy game where the player must colonize a 
new galaxy, set economic, political, scentific and military policies in order 
to survive in a hostile galaxy.  Computer controlled opponents have their 
own imperial ambitions and through technology and tactics they will try 
to become the supreme power in the galaxy.
  
What makes GalCiv 2 so unusual is that it uses OS/2 Warp's 32bit  
mulithreading power to bring a new level of depth to the genre.  While it is  
similar to games such as Civilization, Masters of Orion, and Ascendancy,  
GalCiv's AI doesn't cheat in order to provide challenging play.  This is  
because the game multi-tasks within itself.  While the player moves his/her  
ships, gives orders to planetary governors, conducts trade negotiations, etc.  
the AI generates its strategy in a background "thread".  Moreover, the  
economic simulator engine also works in the background to provide a realistic  
economic model to the galaxy.  The net result is that the player rarely has  
to wait to interact with the game.
