My fiance and I are looking for a beautiful garden setting on the peninsula, hopefully with reasonable privacy (i.e. no one blaring music or skating by during the ceremony) for our May 18th or 19th wedding. If a garden can't be found, an indoor site would be okay too, as long as it's bright and airy. Filoli just told me they don't rent for weddings, and I'm waiting to hear from Allied Arts. Does anyone have other recommendations? Thanks! flyon

Hello, There this place in the Willow Glen area off 101. I am unsure of the name but I saw a brochure on it. And you get a great view of the valley. I did get married at the Hayes Mansion. An outdoor wedding and it was beautiful.. Monica

Wow! Thanks for all the recommendations here and by e-mail! The very first one I got was for Hakone Gardens, and yes, they do rent for weddings and happened to be free for our date (but filling fast). We visited and reserved it already. Boy, that was pretty quick and painless! A good omen? Some info about HG for others interested ... - phone is (408)741-4994 - it's a Japanese-style garden, so it has more greenery, less flowers. - the max number of people they can accommodate is about 150. - the times available are when the place is not open to the public, which means either 8-11 am or 5-9 pm on weekends. - they have a couple of buildings available to rent for wedding or reception. Garden-only rental is $600; small building is 300, larger is $700. - they do have restrictions on music (60dB?) - there's plenty of convenient parking (this is a place that the public can visit for a fee) We think it will work out great! If you are talking about the San Francisco peninsula, how about
the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame? They have a nice indoor garden.
Other hotels such as Sterling Suites (formerly Embassy Suites)
also have indoor atriums that are very bright and airy.
The Dunfey Hotel in San Mateo also has an outdoor wedding area.

Little further south.... Villa Montalvo has several gardens that they rent for weddings, I was there for one a couple of months ago and it was just spectacular. It's just enough out of the way that you don't get noisy bystanders, although the occasional quiet strolling couple. They have two or three beautiful garden settings they make available. Hakone Japanese gardens is a terrific setting, but I don't know if they rent for weddings. Los Gatos Lodge has what they call "The Wedding Garden" but it's not as nice as it sounds. Don't bother. Cheers and good luck! How about the Paul Masson Winery, in Saratoga(?). I heard it's beautiful up there. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Leonora Castillo Silicon Graphics, Inc leonora@mti.sgi.com 2011 N. Shoreline Blvd. 415-933-6223 Mtn.
