This argument is just going to run and run, I can feel it. However I'd like to
point out that the idea of the Soviet army being within 48 hours of a first
strike (as was recently reported here in the UK - the prospect of Star Wars,
whether it worked or not really put the wind up them) really makes me feel
warm inside. The super powers had enough fire power to destroy the world many
times over.  Had it not reached the point where it made no difference anyway?
