He made a free market move. He couldn't compete so he moved to another area of production. "...going after the criminals" would have required political capital. That is not free market. That is very NEOCON! I guess he wasn't a neocon. > > The police department would have been delighted to get publicity over a > bust of organized crime. All you gotta do is drop a couple of dimes - one > to the cops, the other to the local Fox affiliate. Give me a break! Illegals working for contractors sweep the floors of the police station. Just today there is news of Houston beginning to enforce these things on a local level but years ago...it did not happen. I had a cousin-in-law that had an illegal hit and run his pickup. He chased 'em down, forced them off the road, and made a "citizen's arrest". He took the driver to the police. They let the illegal go and told my cousin-in-law he was lucky they didn't arrest him for kidnapping. > > > So, how did the local cops, INS and news stations react when you call > them? I guess by now, you've figured out I didn't call them. I've called years before; they told me they appreciated my concern...and they did nothing. This is Texas! > So, how did the local cops, INS and news stations react when you called > them? You ask smug and naive questions as if I have no brain. Remember I told you the guy that told me this whispered. The news media would have wanted to interview people who had other than hearsay information. None of those guys would have talked. The injured guy might have, but you and I know they didn't really call INS. He just found his way to a hospital and got fixed. The cost of his medical care gets tacked on the end of the so-called free market system we have that charges $36 for an asprin and $75 for a minimum wage orderly to stick an electronic thermometer behind my ear for an 87 degree reading until I put the damn thing in my ear where it belongs. > > >> Outside the law is outside the law! You know they don't respond. A few local police departments are beginning to respond but this is all brand new. >>>The solution, of course, is not to pass new laws making it harder for >>>them >>>to get here. >>>The solution is to make it easier for them to get here legally. Close the border first. That means having gates through which we know who is coming. Since we allow very few in legally, I'm not totally against increasing the numbers, but not to the numbers I think you would want. You seem to think there are jobs only they will do. I don't believe that for a moment. So many showed up in New Orleans, we might have to change the name of Bourbon Street to Tecialla >> >> If you want to vote to make it easier to get here legally, you have a >> vote, >> I have a vote. There will always be anarchists. I believe in limited government myself...but I believe in a few laws and strict enforcment of them. You seem to prefer anarchy and lawlessness to law and order. Don't try to turn my statement into a cry for fascism either. I want to close the border, then agree collectively on a number to allow in our country. Be the number what it may be. I understand Marx's pendulum, so at first it will be overtight and then loosened up. I just want the border closed. > > It always takes a paragraph or few before you anti-Mexican types admit > your bigotry this well.. but you always end up in the same place. You don't know what your are talking about, but you think you do. Did you notice I didn't use the word Mexican ...but greencard...and illegal. That's because these people come from all over Central and South America. To call them Mexicans is a cultural ignorance. > > > > >> They don't "steal" jobs but they do take jobs. It violates safety laws, labor laws, >> all kinds of laws. > > Yup - which is why we don't need any more laws. > We just need folks like you to grow a backbone and report the crimes when > you see them. When the police show an inclination to pay any attention, I'll do that. I don't believe in leaving the American flag laying on the side of the road. After 9-11 and the sudden appearance of super patriots, I started picking up the discarded flags and burning them as is the proper way to retire them. There were too many. Now I pick up those at my feet, but I can't stop the car everytime I see one. Same thing with illegals. I don't want to harm these people personally that come here to earn a few dollars. I know these people, I work with them. Even when they become citizens they plan to return to their old country to retire and live like kings. I admire that, and I don't want to hurt them. I just want to stablize our free market economy so that our entry level workers don't have to compete at third world wage levels to get a job. > > >> There is no such thing as a job Americans won't take. Maybe in Calif. fruit pickers are offered $12 per hour, but in the valley here in Texas they don't get that much, but it doesn't matter. Free market says the jobs are taken when offered at the exact right level and not before. That's just free market principles. > > How far up do you think we should LIBERALLY raise the min. wage to. > > $20/hr? $30/hr.? Before the industrial revolution during feudalism the lowest wage for a peasant was set (by the Lords of the Manor) at a level high enough to support a man, a woman, and three children at a base level. The man worked in the field unskilled labor or farming. The woman was family support work at home. The three children replaced the man and his wife with one extra for growth. They actually paid a little more because of the high death rate, so the peasant had four or five children. Tradesmen were paid a little more to encourage production. There was no mimimum wage law....the wages just gravated to this level because that is what it took to sustain the economy. Things that dont perpetuate themselves, tend to stop! Cultures that paid less than what I just described....were overrun by more efficient cultures. I am in favor of closing our borders, so you think I am anti-Mexican. You really don't know much. When I was 11 years old, I had my 125 Harley Davidson across the Red River into Oklahoma with some friends. I was driving through some high grass and discovered a section of Rt. 66 that had once led to a toll bridge that had been abandoned. This was just a small section of asphalt or concrete. It was almost 50 years ago so I can't remember. Anyway, I was struck by heavy grass growing over my head out of the pavement. To an eleven year old it was an irony I couldn't understand. When I was thirty and trying to research my Cherokee roots, I had a prophecy to explain that early vision. "This land will have a brown skinned people. As the grass grows through the pavement, so shall the brown skinned people rise from the earth." Indians never had a high birth rate. White people take birth control pills and abort their potential families. The Indians from the South of America are Catholic and they do not abort their babies and they have a lot of them. They will be the brown skinned people. They are really more Indian than Spanish...and they will rise from the land like the grass rose from the pavement. The Spanish white people do not usually immigrate. The border is a political boundary. The citizens on this side are all colors. It is just time to close the border politically so all the citizens, black, brown, yellow, and even white can decide how we want to control the border. You don't have to believe in my prophecy....it was given to me...not you. The brown skinned people will rise from the earth. There is no need for them to swim over the river. If the earth provides fruit, the earth will provide a people to pick it, eat it, market it, trade it, save it, and invest it into a gigantic industrial economy. I already know that people will eventually be a brown skinned people. Randy R. Cox
