The community is mostly rich, white, Neochristians living well beyond their means. They feel much the same way you do about our guest workers. They too, consider themselves middle-roaders... and on many issues they are moderate - or even outright liberal. But then the bigot comes out. They talk about Mexicans stealing jobs - while getting $45k in a job no illegal could possibly sneak into. They talk about the damage Mexicans do to the economy - while buying affordable produce. Then they start talking about how much MORE we should spend on a LIBERAL expansion of government laws... while complaining about having to pay too much in taxes. The solution, of course, is not to pass new laws making it harder for them to get here.
