I have simply been responding to an invitation to expand on my reasons for opposing euthanasia! >You've actively promoted laws prohibiting me from following my beliefs. >If that's not intolerance, I wonder what you think intolerance is - must >the jackboots be at the door before you'll feel a twinge of guilt? No, I actively participated in the democratic process whilst a legislative response was being decided. >>Nope - but it sought to change the institution from within, by >>changing the hearts and minds of the people so that they no longer >>desired to see their fellow men and women imprisoned. Refer to the >>book of Philemon (it's just a short one - only take about 5 minutes to >>read) to see what I mean. >Why go so far as Philemon? Because it directly relates to the question you posed, being that we are currently in an age of grace as far as God's plan for mankind's salvation is concerned. The position of a book within the canon is not an accurate indicator of its correlation of relevence. >I read in Genesis that your god made one of >Noah's sons the slave of the others for the sin of catching sight of >Noah's dick while Noah was passed out on vino. Seems a little unloving >to me ... Peter, I have the greatest respect for your opinion and arguments. From memory, I recall that you are involved/practice/ teach psychology (forgive me if I've used the wrong terms). Can I suggest that with such poor exegesis you either embarrass yourself by revealing your lack of understanding of what the text means, or equally you leave yourself open to accusations of twisting it's meaning to suit your argument. Either way, for anyone who has studied the Bible the picture you paint is not flattering. Like, maybe I can mis-cite Maslow, Jung, Freud etc to support my position? I'm happy to go into an explanation of any particular Bible passgae you like, but I don;t know that talk.euthanasia is the forum for it! Nice talkiing with you Peter.
