Ah, but I was only responding to your remark about selfishness. I'm not
trying to hound you, and I'm happy to let it drop, but, as you've seen, 
I'm not the only person to take issue with you on it. Pride goeth, and all
that.

It's not for me to tell you how to relate to your God, but if it were me
who believed in him I'd have a truly immense swag of questions with
regard to him carrying on like a drunken swineherd throughout the OT.
It may be a good thing for you that I don't share your faith :-)

Actually, no, I'm a software architect. The only thing I can tell you about
psychology, having studied it a few years at university, is that 90% of it
is rubbish. Only trouble is that no two psychists agree on which 
parts are the remainder.

Oh, if you don't like that passage, I can pull up dozens like it
thoughout the OT - follow those links I slung you for plenty of
examples. The fact is that many of the people who have kept slaves in
the last few hundred years were also devout christians, based most of
their practices on the christian bible, and, if you're to be believed,
are presently wafting about like lost balloons in heaven. 

Another good reason not to want to go there :-)

I doubt you'd need to mis-cite those fruit-loops - but if you have a go
at George Kelly I'll come out swinging :-) You know your book has some
damned uncivilized bits and pieces, Patrick, and it's not my aim to
force your to defend them - that's a matter for you and your flock. But
neither will I sit still when you tell me that this blood-soaked
concretion of fireside stretchers is your basis for claiming to know
better than I how I should live my life.

Doubtless it's not, and seeing that I'm not terribly interested in any
particular Bible passage, shall we say, end of thread?
