I am looking for recommendations on internet service providers who can be
accessed in the Portland, OR area. Any information on cost, service,
reliability, experiences, etc. would be gretaly appreciated. I am
particularly interested in ISPs who offer unlimited access. Thanks.

Ann, I am using Europa and have been very pleased. The set up was easy, the few times I've needed tech support they've answered immediately with the right info. I get very solid connections at 28.8 (or 26.X) and have always gotten on immediately or within a minute or so. I use Netscape for most everything & it seems solid and trouble-free w/ Europa. You can contact them online @ 222-4244 (login as new) or voice at 222-9508. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, other than being a satisfied customer. I speak up when I'm displeased but also when I'm treated well, which is why I'm giving Europa a recommendation. Good luck & regards. Paul

Try World Access, never had a busy signal, they're always there for
$120.00 a year for 60 hours a month. They're at www.worldaccess.com.

As a former employee of Europa, I can recommend their IP access. Great
tech support, easy setup, nice folks. You can get a free trial account
to try it out. See their web page for details: www.europa.com. You
should also check out the competition. See "The List",
www.thelist.com, it's a list of ISPs.

Beware of ISPs who offer "unlimited" access. Is it really "unlimited"?
Can you connect 24hrs/day, 7days/wk? That kind of access really does
cost more. As the old cliche goes, "you get what you pay for".

I use internet communications. I've been generally satisfied with them.

Hi Ann,
I have used Aracnet.com for several months. Their service has always
been first class, and they have strong tech support. I paid $180
($15/month) for unlimited access. That is real unlimited access, no
time limit, full WWW, USENET, FTP, etc. The cost in $18/month if you
do not pay by the year. They also have 10 day free trial. Check out
the WWW site (www.aracnet.com) for more, and more current,
information. I have been very happy with Aracnet.
Also, by the way, they were one of the Portland ISP's that lead the
local fight against Internet censorship. I know that I like to
support companies that support me.
Other than being a client, I have no vested interest in Aracnet.com.

Dear Ann,
I have had good experiences with hevanet, they cost around $8/month and provide good service for my basic needs, for 20 hours, if you pay for 6months in advance. Call them 2201704 (data) and ask for pricing.
