While there may well be a few places like speakeasies or bars that will look the other way and allow smokers to smoke and drink etc.. in _most_ cases, this law will be self-enforcing precisely because it's something the majority of us wanted. You can witness the same thing right now in food courts or other smoke-free places like the Dufferin Mall. If anyone is rude enough to smoke in these smoke-free places, someone like myself will surely remind you that smoking is not permitted. As polls indicated (released a few weeks before the law was passed), this law is not something handed down by "facist" NDP (hard to type this without laughing) councillors at city hall... finally the 70% or so non-smokers have a city council willing to stand up for us... aside from the very real health risk data and smoking-in-the workplace issues the plain and simple basic fact is that tobacco smoke is a major inconvenience. Imagine the time and money saved on laundry alone! Personally, I found it quite insulting to listen to tobacco-sponsored media emphasising the "enforceability" issue (just about every radio,TV and print media outlet here seemed to do it) instead of helping explain why the law is a good idea in the first place and/or why we wanted it... http://www.io.org/~pete/BreathEasy.html
