Hmmm, it's seems that horny Jim is all exited about the copyright
notice in my sig, this has him so aroused that he wont stop humping my
leg. Down boy. Down.

On Tue, 14 Jan 1997 19:11:31 GMT, Jim Butterfield wrote:

Jim, do your really think that everybody is cheering you on?

"Who is Jim Butterfield?" asks John Q. Public.

Jim is a persnickety fellow, who can be useful when given simple
tasks, but lacks the emotional stability to be entrusted with any real
responsibility. Likes harping and chest beating to help him deal with
his self image problem and nothing makes him feel better than giving a
good tongue lashing to a meandering net user. It makes him feel smart.

On the bright side, I'm sure Jim can be a nice fellow as long as you
don't pose a threat to his vulnerable ego.

+ : + The address is clearly a fake.
+
+ : As I suspected.
+
+ It took me ten seconds to type FIND and then enter keyword NOW. It took
+ me about 30 seconds to compose a test message to now@torfree.net.
+
+ Too much work for Quirk?

Congrats Jim, 30 seconds well spent, but in fact yes -- it is to much
work for too little reward. Obviously you have no idea exactly how
busy I am and how little I care about this issue, those that do
understand.

As a member of the TFN board I took this opportunity to encourage any
who want to see disciplinary action to organise and structure the due
process necessary to execute it. And to make it clear that the board
is too busy to deal with issues like these fairly at this stage. I
didn't comment much on the actual post in question because I didn't
then and don't now consider it a big issue. I instantly assume that
all spam has forged header fields. The principal member initiative
rather than simply looking to the board to do everything is what my
article was about.

+ : I say that a TFN member should organise a members committee to take
+ : disciplinary action against abusers, once this members committee has
+ : established acceptable due process, the board can act on their
+ : recommendations.
+
+ Lots better than spending less than a minute to find out what the story
+ is. Didn't Quirk even notice that the message carried a PST time stamp,
+ suggesting that it came from the west coast?

Jim, once again is *LOOKING* for an argument, he knows that I said the
header was probably forged at the beginning of my article, he knows
that my suggestion that a disciplinary committee be formed by the
members has nothing *specifically* to do with the now@torfree.net
spam, but he chooses to ignore all that so he can pursue an argument.

Why is Jim so keen on arguing? Because he is threatened by me, I'm not
impressed and cowed by his wisdom, therefore he wants to punish me for
the sin of irreverence to the Great Butterfield with his legendary wit
and stunning powers of header analysis . Yawn.

+ : + An interesting thought. What about abusers who post obscenity to
+ : + inappropriate newsgroups?
+
+ : A complicated issue that is obviously to much for you to wrestle with.
+
+ But not too (sp) complicated for Quirk, huh?

Now he sinks to the lowest of the usenet low: Spelling Flames.

Poor Jim.

[Much demented copyright law blustering and posturing snipped]

+ Copyright law is not inanity. It's quite a serious business. Playing
+ silly games with copyright is more than buffoonery.

Thanks for the legal advice Jim, your concern is touching, but worry
not about my sig inflicted fate, I'll be OK.

+ Then again, Quirk just might be a malicious forgery.

True.
