I wonder if it ever occurs to Quirk (dmytrik@lglobal.com) how pompous
he sounds?

: + The address is clearly a fake.

: As I suspected.

It took me ten seconds to type FIND and then enter keyword NOW. It took
me about 30 seconds to compose a test message to now@torfree.net.

Too much work for Quirk?

: I say that a TFN member should organise a members committee to take
: disciplinary action against abusers, once this members committee has
: established acceptable due process, the board can act on their
: recommendations.

Lots better than spending less than a minute to find out what the story
is. Didn't Quirk even notice that the message carried a PST time stamp,
suggesting that it came from the west coast?

: + An interesting thought. What about abusers who post obscenity to
: + inappropriate newsgroups?

: A complicated issue that is obviously to much for you to wrestle with.

But not too (sp) complicated for Quirk, huh?

: + : Copyright 1996 Idiosyntactix, Toronto.

: + Are you claiming copyright to the
: + material ostensibly posted by now@torfree.net and reposted by yourself?
: + And material posted by boB and reposted by yourself?

: Do you seriously expect a response to the above inanity?

Quirk doesn't get it. By posting a pompous copyright notice on a message
that mostly contains quotes from others, he is claiming ownership.

Explicit copyrights are rare on the internet. They are usually posted by
inflated egos who believe that every word that drops from their mouth (or
keyboard) is priceless and should be jealously guarded.

In this posting I have quoted from Quirk's copyrighted message. If
the copyright is valid, he needs to sue me in order to protect his
rights. Otherwise, the copyright will lose its force, in the same way as
happened to Max Ehrman with his piece, "desiderata".

Copyright law is not inanity. It's quite a serious business. Playing
silly games with copyright is more than buffoonery.

Then again, Quirk just might be a malicious forgery.

Not copyright 1997 or any other year; Toronto.
