Long interesting post: -------------------- Thank you David, we carefully read your post. We want to ask you the following questions which we supplemented with traceroutes among other things. We also numbered the questions, so as we can follow to which part you are answering. We hope that you maintain that in your answers. > To make this long story short, the TFN talks to a number of machines. > Bruce may have created entries in the name server database for these machines > for convenience reasons. However, their true location comes out in a > traceroute. Q1- Explain then why there's a gts.torfree.net being referenced to gts.net? It serves no useful purpose for the TFN. Of course the only purpose this can serve is the other way around, i.e. Bruce Becker using this as a gateway to free T1 connection, rather than passing through the bottle-ncek of the ISDN connection that is obviously paid for according to volume of traffic also. Q2- If this is not the case, why keep it? Q3- How does such a thing benefit the TFN 'mainly'? bash$ traceroute gts.torfree.net;slt.com;traceroute csas.torfree.net traceroute to gts.org (192.172.254.6), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 rtcolo.spg.va.erols.net (207.96.1.1) 1.035 ms 0.823 ms 0.806 ms 2 spg-rtcwix.erols.net (207.172.0.3) 1.954 ms 1.250 ms 1.151 ms 3 tip-7513-ar1-h8-0.cwix.net (206.142.253.73) 8.022 ms 2.521 ms 3.567 ms 4 tip-7513-1-f11-0.cwix.net (207.124.104.97) 4.985 ms 3.487 ms 3.236 ms 5 nyd-7513-1-h4-0.cwix.net (207.124.104.50) 8.718 ms 9.335 ms 7.170 ms 6 nyd-7513-2-f9-0.cwix.net (206.142.243.130) 12.159 ms 8.456 ms 7.489 ms 7 144.228.164.21 (144.228.164.21) 14.781 ms 13.640 ms 11.384 ms 8 144.228.60.7 (144.228.60.7) 32.155 ms 37.505 ms 35.857 ms 9 sl-accld-1-S0-T1.sprintlink.net (144.228.67.30) 63.727 ms 52.800 ms 52.245 ms 10 t3-1.toronto.acc.ca (206.231.247.237) 51.318 ms 45.411 ms 46.893 ms 11 toronto-isdn1.ican.net (206.231.245.194) 50.460 ms 50.186 ms 51.405 ms 12 frozen.reptiles.org (192.75.253.129) 115.089 ms 203.273 ms 151.100 ms 13 csas-gw.reptiles.org (192.75.253.140) 90.459 ms 223.844 ms 136.613 ms 14 ppp-gts.reptiles.org (192.75.253.72) 446.388 ms 223.949 ms 248.576 ms 15 not.falcon.gts.org (192.172.254.6) 606.049 ms 228.704 ms 274.978 ms Now here is the trace route for csas.torfree.net (notice that it takes you to csas.com directly. traceroute to csas.com (204.138.66.33), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 rtcolo.spg.va.erols.net (207.96.1.1) 1.019 ms 0.848 ms 0.786 ms 2 spg-rtcwix.erols.net (207.172.0.3) 1.282 ms 1.419 ms 1.279 ms 3 tip-7513-ar1-h8-0.cwix.net (206.142.253.73) 4.311 ms 4.171 ms 2.590 ms 4 tip-7513-1-f5-0.cwix.net (206.142.240.1) 17.005 ms 3.173 ms 3.234 ms 5 nyd-7513-1-h4-0.cwix.net (207.124.104.50) 7.870 ms 7.613 ms 10.277 ms 6 nyd-7513-2-f5-0.cwix.net (206.142.243.2) 7.403 ms 11.052 ms 8.485 ms 7 144.228.164.21 (144.228.164.21) 14.926 ms 13.123 ms 16.023 ms 8 144.228.60.7 (144.228.60.7) 20.345 ms 29.986 ms 18.966 ms 9 sl-accld-1-S0-T1.sprintlink.net (144.228.67.30) 50.172 ms 49.462 ms 59.588 ms 10 t3-1.toronto.acc.ca (206.231.247.237) 52.581 ms 51.026 ms 49.486 ms 11 toronto-isdn1.ican.net (206.231.245.194) 49.511 ms 46.813 ms 45.953 ms 12 frozen.reptiles.org (192.75.253.129) 70.224 ms 77.431 ms 285.813 ms 13 csas-gw.reptiles.org (192.75.253.140) 92.975 ms 119.009 ms 121.909 ms 14 ppp-gts.reptiles.org (192.75.253.72) 302.603 ms 298.387 ms 257.074 ms 15 csas.com (204.138.66.33) 260.514 ms 218.650 ms 212.382 ms Q4- And what purpose does referencing csas.torfree.net to csas.com serve (_really_)? Wouldn't it be nice that changes to the Internic registration of the TFN be first approved by the board and published in the minutes? Q10- What would the average TFN user lose by closing down the office web site? What does the TFN stands to lose if it was proven that this link is being misused? Now for the more puzzling parts, particularly as the subdomain database has been changed to reflect other names since this was published in the first place, so it cannot be verified now, except of course by someone having the right access to the log files (which I believe you still enjoy) to see when and who made these changes, for example for gts.torfree.net to now read not.falcon.gts.org). This part is actually a proof of misuse to have the the gts.torfree.net act as a name server for ns.tls.com (You can of course guess who in the doamin name registration is the hostmaster). Q11- Can you explain why only 100 lines are present in the current hunt group for TFN instead of the two hundred that TFN is paying for? Where are the other 100 lines? What is the hunt group for them? Of course we do not swallow the feeble answer given by you know who, that these numbers are not consequential, as actually this is not what we understand about hunt groups in telephone lines. Strnage enough also is that the next 100 lines are not in service 780-2100 - 780-2199, which lead us to conclude - not proof - that the original hunt group was for 200 (until recently). We may have to use our rights of access to information to solve this. 34 cyber1 (/home/torpub1/fits)% traceroute gts.torfree.net traceroute to ns.tls.com (192.172.254.6), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 st-roc-1-h0-t3.servtech.net (199.1.22.1) 0 ms 0 ms 0 ms 2 sl-chi-16-S2/5-T1.sprintlink.net (144.228.156.77) 40 ms 30 ms 30 ms 3 sl-chi-2-F6/0/0.sprintlink.net (144.228.50.2) 20 ms 30 ms 20 ms 4 sl-pen-17-H1/0-T3.sprintlink.net (144.228.10.37) 40 ms 40 ms 60 ms 5 sl-pen-7-F0/0.sprintlink.net (144.228.60.7) 190 ms 230 ms 220 ms 6 sl-accld-1-S0-T1.sprintlink.net (144.228.67.30) 80 ms 70 ms 70 ms 7 206.231.247.237 (206.231.247.237) 70 ms 390 ms 80 ms 8 toronto-isdn1.ican.net (206.231.245.194) 80 ms 80 ms 70 ms 9 frozen.reptiles.org (192.75.253.129) 100 ms 110 ms 150 ms 10 csas-gw.reptiles.org (192.75.253.140) 170 ms 240 ms 150 ms 11 ppp-gts.reptiles.org (192.75.253.72) 340 ms 240 ms 310 ms 12 ns.tls.com (192.172.254.6) 280 ms 240 ms 290 ms Q12- Do you claim that I invented this scenario? Q13- If you do not claim that, as hopefully you would check the logs - if any - of the site(s) to see that this was not changed, then what is your explanation for this? Q14- What is the advantages of this marriage (/rape) between the TFN and CSAS (and/or GTS, Reptiles, tls, etc who are invited to this gang rape)? Though we do not object to inter-racial marriages, I still do for inter-racial rapes (as well as any rape). The irony is one intity is not for profit and is the employer, while the other is for profit and is the employee. Of course your answer must be from the view-point of the 'best interests of the TFN' as we know you as one who always had that in mind, but we cannot also forget that you are the one who actually contracted CSAS and is negotiating there renewal of the contracts. I think it is a good time for change. We hope that you would tell what makes your consciousness at rest, as an eminenet professional, a TFN volunteer and a TFN Board member. However, we have the right also to question your answer and/or publish it to hostmasters newsgroups. Please do not under-estimate our resourcefullness nor our perserverance. Nabil M. This calls for a reposting of Val's freenet

Bob, I fully believe that the Toronto Cabal
has become oppressive and even dangerous; they are on the verge of
completely controlling access to information in this city. Think about
it: they set up the Freenet to whet the public's appetite for
net.access, then they make sure that the system is slow enough and has
too few modems so that Joe Shmoe will run right out to one of the ISPs
in town and get a *paying* account. The Freenet is nothing but a
publicly-funded bait-and-switch tactic where the winners are the
Caballeros, and the losers are the people who have to pay inflated
prices because of the lack of meaningful competition.
A freenet of some sort was inevitable in Toronto, and it was in the
Cabal's best interest to control it from the very beginning. Now just
who stands to gain the most if the Toronto Freenet is delayed for over
a year, and then is nearly unusable after it's finally launched? Why
the Cabal, of course. The number of users on Internex and Interlog
alone has more than doubled since the launching of the Freenet in the
autumn, and other ISPs like Passport and Inforamp have seemingly
appeared out of nowhere to take care of the overflow. As if that isn't
damning enough, what about the fact that a considerable portion of
Usenet news is drawn in over the Freenet's (taxpayer-subsidized)
high-speed net link, and then re-distributed on the cheap to the rest
of the Cabal member systems? Is it really a coincidence that the
Freenet serves the local ISPs before its own members? I think not.
The Toronto Freenet will never get a graphical interface or offer basic
access to ftp, telnet, or the Web, because that would adversely affect
business flowing into the Cabal's ISPs. It was deliberately designed to
be as useless and frustrating as possible to use. How are any and all
complaints answered? "If you don't like it here, why don't you pay for
an account on a commercial provider?" seems to be the only entry in the
Freenet's tech-support manual. Sounds like the Freenet "volunteers" get
kickbacks for directing potential customers to local ISPs, doesn't it?
But there's so much more. I discovered the full details of the plan
quite accidentally last month, and four members of the Cabal have
threatened to put me on a local access blacklist if I reveal what I
know. In fact, this article may be my last from a local provider,
assuming that it makes it past the Cabal cancelbots at all. However, I
feel it important that the people in this city know just what the
various conspirators are up to in their attempts to illegally control
the market. To that end, I will be revealing the true extent of the
Cabal Conspiracy in a series of posts over the next few days. I fully
expect to lose my accounts on three of the local Cabal systems as a
result, but I am currently negotiating with an American service to
obtain a low-cost, unfettered account. The Toronto Cabal will be
broken, even if I have to haul my own T1 up from Falls Church, VA to do
it.
