Ah, then.  You have settled in the right place.  Titles of nobility,
bluebloods, names from old plantations where coolies still pick cotton,
aristocrats (even if their titles were bought from gypsies),  do well
in SC, while merit means little or nothing.  So it's nice to know you
are high caste.

BTW, did your governor ever find his voter ID card?  I remember another
of your governors.  What a piece of work.   David Beasley.  Remember
him?  He thought SC was a theocracy and he was its mullah and ruled
accordingly.  He got caught lying to grammar students about his
athletic prowess. He could run the 100-yard dash in something like 3
seconds.

Oh, yes, and I remember reading about a ladyship once who went back to
the Mayflower.  She ran a call-girl service and called herself the
Mayflower Madam.   She even wrote a book about it.  So I am humbled,
being offspring of Irish who immigrated, lean and bony, in steerage
during the famines of mid-19th century Ireland, made whisky in NC and
VA, and refused to fight in the Civil War.

Yes, but viewing the link I can imagine it might be the writings of a
revisionist.  SC has one pathetic little university and one abysmal law
school, while NC is blessed with great institutions of higher learning
strewn over the state.  There are law schools at Duke, Chapel Hill,
Greenville, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem.  The university system spreads
from Wilmington to Asheville.

South Carolina has little or no law, only aristocracy corrupted into
law, and a Supreme Court which is manifestly sleazy.  Matter of fact I
can't think of any of the branches of government in your state which
are not run on cronyism and influence peddling, from my own experience.
 Best politicians money can buy.

I'm glad to know that some Huguenots survived St. Bartholomew's Day.
French Catholics murdered over a million of them-- women and children
too --- whereupon the Pope, to honor the blissful occasion, struck a
gold medal and hung a tapestry in the Vatican to commemorate the
slaughter.
