I graduated from Duke in 1975 and used to operate the Duke ham radio
club station in the Engineering Building. It was licensed as W4AHY, as
I recall. They had an old (for even back then) Aerotron "lunch box"
transceiver tuned up on the Hillsborough repeater frequency
146.22/146.82. There was also a set of Drake (or was it
Hallicrafters??) HF twins feeding a home brew cubical quad on a rotator
located out the station window on the roof of the building. I enjoyed
operating the station, but the club really wasn't a club back then ...
there was a station trustee and a president who showed me how to get the
key to the station. No meetings or anything. Good luck in your
efforts.
