My PowerPC(R) 603e clocked at 100MHz can run programs at an equivalent
speed as a 133MHz Pentium, but as I recall it outperforms even a
considerably faster PPro at Internet access (assuming identical modem
speeds) due to the better performance of Apple Computer's OpenTransport
(compared to "WinSock" now rolled into Win'95).

Going over your list of applications:

> 1- Windows 95

Most computer users who use both regularly report that MacOS is hands-down
better than Win'95. If you have some real attachment to it or have an
abitrary company policy against MacOS (kind of like saying "yeah we'll get
you any corporate car you want, so long as you want a Yugo") you can run
VirtualPC or SoftWindows. Ironically these emulators (running DOS or
Win'3.11) are reported to run DOS programs FASTER than Win'95!

> 2- Ms-Office

Available on Mac if you need it.

> 3- Word

Also available on the Mac. MacOS comes with MacLink which translates Word
and other popular DOS/Wintel formats AND lets you modify them, using
Mac-only programs or Mac versions of cross platform products!

> 4- Autocad 13 for Windows 95

There are at least two strong CAD programs for Mac that can read and write
AutoCAD files. I can remember AutoCAD DESPERATELY looking for Mac
programmers to support both platforms. One of the industry's best kept
secrets is that Mac programmers are so valuable that they can pick and
choose who they work for and many company's blaming Mac's marketshare for
abandoning it just don't want to admit that their programmers don't have
the "juice" to master MacOS.

> 5- Netscape

Co-released on Mac. May have been Mac first. Both Communicator and
Navigator are as well supported on Mac as wintel platforms. Plus you get
the better interapplication support of MacOS.

So to sum up my answer to your question: get the fastest MacOS compatible
your budget will allow. If you can't afford a couple of hundred dollars
more to get a genuine Apple(R) Macintosh(R) there are many excellent
models available from Motorola, PowerComputing, UMAX, PowerTools, MACTELL,
APS and others.

Good luck!

PS- If you can stand to wait until '98 you will EVENTUALLY be able to run
Rhapsody on SOME models of "compatibles".
