If they cannot get into your apt. what happens if there is a fire, a
water leak, a gas leak. By law the owner or rep. for the owner has the
right to have access to their property if you are not their in case of
emergancy. If an electrical fire broke out in your apt and destroyed the
building because they could not get in to stop it you could be liable for
the losses of the other tenets.

No I am not against privacy and I guard mine closely because I know I
cannot depend on any one to guard it for me. I have never had a problem
getting apt. management to agree to any reasonable request and in some
cases to get them to put it in writting in the lease.

To the original poster: It is never safe to assume the laws of one state
are the same in another state. I hate to say it but you should have read
the lease thoroughly before you signed it. If you sign a legal document
without reading it first you have no one to blame but yourself if it
turns around and bites you.
