Seems like a fiscally sound move to me. : You said it obscene: Obscene material is illegal to distribute in any medium. Second, only a judge or a jury can determine whether a particular image is obscene or not obscene. This sounds like the Board is a) being extremely silly or b) using this proclamation to intimidate people to voluntarily remove indecent material from the computers. For adults, indecent material is 100% prime grade legal to both possess and redistribute to other adults. : There's also no denying the negative impact pornography has had on our : children and social relationships. It's time we stop abusing one another : in the name of "free speach" and do what's right, even if your left. There's quite a bit of research to counter your claim that exposure to pornography is harmful to minors or even adults. Depends on who you talk to, really. But the evidence is totally overwhelming that repression of sexual expression and desires is extremely damaging to the psyche and sexual identity. It is also time that we stop abusing people in the name of "morality" and the notion that you know what is best in terms of what other people read, look at, think, or decide. Surely others can (and will) see the truth in this argument before it is too late. -- David Smith * Next EFF-Austin meeting: bladex@bga.com * Fifth Anniversary Cyberdawg President, EFF-Austin * Steve Jackson Games, 2700-A Metcalfe 512-304-6308 * Saturday, July 20th, 6:00 p.m. to dusk
