Those of us who have to fill out the full 1040 tax form : and who have run our own business know for a fact that if you want : paperwork reduced, the LAST, very, very LAST people you expect to do so is : the federal government. For the amount of information that is needed from you, form 1040 is _very_ easy to fill out compared to some insurance forms I have come accross. Ask any insurance agent about this. The U S government, at the contrary, has the ability to streamline the paperwork process, creating one set of forms where thousands of different ones, all created by various companies, existed previously. I have run my own business for years. Believe me, the U S government is no more hellish to deal with than any large company administration. And don't get me started on Pac Bell. : If you think the paperwork is bad now, just wait. The government can make : it much, much worse. The government NEVER simplifies paperwork. Nothing more than scare tactics. Ignore this man. : The ultimate proof of this: they often have a "paperwork reduction act" : which requires them to give you yet another piece of paper telling you that : they are making an effort to reduce paperwork. When you stand back to : consider this, you realize that they are simply incapable of reducing : paperwork. Hello? The Paperwork Reduction Act Notice takes up at most 20 lines in a corner of most government forms. This is _not_ another piece of paper. This is not "proof", either, this is anecdotal. -- Michael Ross Antigone Press, San Francisco, California e-mail: mross@antigone.com FAX: +1 415 431 3650
