I personally don't want to be involved in a CM argument, but I did the Davis
Double this year. With over 900 cyclists it took over the road as much as
CM does. I also do weekend hammerfest rides in my town and recreational
racer types are also as obstructive to motor vehicle traffic as CM. Motor
vehicle users, however, have taken over the roads far more, with greater
arrogance than any bicyclist group. When I drive in a car I don't expect
(nor do I find) that I have unimpeded progress. There are all kinds of road
users and I often have to wait. Mostly for other motorists.
