Lots of questions on SCSI

I am going to get a CD-R kit next week. This means that I will now
get involved in SCSI which is new to me. I have lots of questions
that I hope someone will be able to answer. Over the last few days
I've been learning about SCSI, but still have a few things that need
settling. Sorry that this list is rather long.

It is recommended that the CD-R drive doesn't share it's SCSI
controller card with other devices. I also need to get another hard
disk (approx 1GB) and would get a SCSI drive. Seagate do three 1GB
SCSI drives, the ST31080N (169 ukp), ST51080N (175 ukp) and the
ST32105N (395 ukp). Why the big difference in cost ?
The ST51080N is SCSI-2, medialist fast. What does this mean ?

I also need a SCSI controller card for the new hard disk and for
future devices. What should I look for ? Would the Adaptec 2929 PCI
kit (114 ukp) be a reasonable choice ?

What's the difference between SCSI and ultra wide SCSI ? Does it just
mean that you can connect 15 SCSI devices rather than 7 ?

What is the difference between SCSI and SCSI-2 ? How about connecting
different standards together ?

I don't have enough space to install the new hard disk in my PC case.
Therefore I would like to mount this and all future SCSI devices from
the new SCSI controller, in an external case. Why are SCSI cases so
expensive ? Do they contain an internal bus or something ?
The largest case I have seen in the price lists is a quad 5.25" case
with a 150W PSU. If you can connect up to 7 devices from one
controller, then wouldn't you want a case that allowed this ?

Can you connect a SCSI scanner to the these cases or does the main
controller card in the PC have more than one external connector ?

Thanks for any help ?
