I've had problems with mine--drops carrier, won't allow binary
transfers, etc. I've read a lot of very bad things on compuserve about
their (USR's) recent "bad" customer service, also.

The sad thing is that I've always had good luck with their modems in the
past...back in the old days up until the 14.4s...the 28.8s well? Just
be sure to get the latest revisions of everything!
