As always, there are several places to check --- namely the "supported
hardware" sections of the various distributions. I generally recommend
http://www.suse.de/cdb/english/, since they also include they XSuse
X-servers.

Some general comments:

Is generally a problem. Make sure you check the "supported hardware".
Using an unsupported board just sucks.

Is also a problem, but much less (since it doesn't really matter whether
the board is supported or not --- your system will work just fine).

IDE is not a standard :-) Anyway, it's the adapter that counts, not
the actual drive (at least for SCSI, but I think it's the same for IDE).

Doesn't matter at all, as long as it matches the capabilities of the gfx
board.

Doesn't matter to Linux.
