The ISP has more data than the node. At one time, I used addresses of the form time@mauve.demon.co.uk to post to usenet. This has let me generate some spam rules that are much, much more reliable than if I'd just used a single address. For example, if I get one mail to "Jun 9 2000" (not actual address scheme I used), It can be hard to tell if it's real or not. However, if it's rapidly followed by 83 to "Jun 10 2000" , "Jun 11 2000", ... with similar content, then it's certainly spam. Some simple scheme, like if a box in 'webpassword' is ticked, it turns on one of several options "drop over X score", "Bounce over X score", "Warn over X score", would be welcomed by many. Maybe mangle the Mail FROM:<fish@a.spammer.com> to <fish%a.spammer.com%spam-score-9.redirector.demon.co.uk> -- http://inquisitor.i.am/ | mailto:inquisitor@i.am | Ian Stirling. ---------------------------+-------------------------+-------------------------- Tad Williams has an interesting new fantasy: http://www.shadowmarch.com/
