good piece of software

I have both but I tend to use Pages for complex things because it is so
easy to use. I use Word for simple stuff out of habit more than
anything else.

I'd like to take a look, where can you get it from? I've looked on
mininova but it's not there. Not that it'd really matter if it was
because I've yet to decide on a bittorrent client.

Pages is a fine piece of software for individual use; however, it
doesn't have the collaboration features (revision tracking, etc.) that
we need for the books we produce (one or two authors, copy editor,
technical editor, and so on). Because of that, our publishers still
demand Word -- and no, working in Pages for us isn't an option since
the tracking information is thrown away.

Actually, I've just found iWorks (which includes Pages) for download on
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3281941/Apple_iWork_full___working and the
serial is there too. Only one seeder though :-(

I don't think a free serial will be available from the Apple site.

Pages is free with your operating system

You just need a serial number

It is? Man I still gotta explore this thing - I've only had it since
late last night! Is it just Pages you get or do you get iWork 06?

Looking for MS Office Professional Edition too dude. If you find it
give me a HU!

Shouldn't be too hard to find one of those. If I find one do you want
it?

Don't expect a lot of sympathy for trying to steal software from Apple
and only having one accomplice, "Gavin."

So you think I'm that seeder, huh? Sorry, gotta burst your bubble here,
I've only had this Mac for a few hours and I've yet to install a
bittorrent client. You got that?

Yes we got that. You use pirated software. That came through loud and
clear.

What was "I've only had this Mac for a few hours and I've YET [my
emphasis] to install a bittorrent client" supposed to prove?

Holy crap! You'd think I'm the only one in the world doing that from
some of the (over)reactions here. If the developers want to stop people
like me from using pirated software then stop taking the piss out of
consumers with your over-inflated prices for software that often stinks
of shit.

Duh. That I'm not the one seeding that torrent.

A typical lame justification for an illegal action.

Gavin why are you antagonizing these people? You know what kind of
reaction you are going to get. I already told you Bit Torrent is
probably the best torrent client for the MAC. If I were you I
wouldn't post links to torrent sites on a group with so many haters,
plus it makes you seem like a troll.

LOL. You are a classic, "Gavin." But whether you have installed a
torrent client yet or not is immaterial. Your obvious warez kiddie
attitude is showing. You're also not very observant. If you bought a
new Mac (or probably even on an old one if you bought used), you've
already got a demo copy of Pages. Look in the /Applications/iWork
folder.

Nobody said you were, you leaped to that defensive conclusion all by

ethics.

For documents I'm writing myself, I use TextEdit, Pages, and Nisus
Writer depending on the situation. When someone sends me an MS word
document, I use OpenOffice.

If the software is bad, then don't use it. Or at least have the respect
to tell the author why *you* don't like it.

So what?, do you blame the one that supplied the gun, or the one that

This argument is pointless. Notice how Gavin says the "software is
too expensive." Noone is losing any money when Gavin downloads an app
for his Mac because he couldnt afford to buy it in the first place.

Anything BUT Pages!! I've found (the recent) NeoOffice more reliable,
especially in conjunction with the odious-but-inescapable
Windows/MSWord situations. But you need a goodly supply of patience!

But Pages was SO slow spelling, I started to copy the text back to
TextEdit for spellcheck. A waste of money. The good thing is: it's led
me to discover I can keep working within BBEdit for much longer in the
process (with some assistence from AppleScript) and to separate my
textual intent from mere cosmetic appearance - an increasingly relevant
point for (hyper)text. And it seems to work out quicker in the end.
