I am convinced that some companies take the line of
a) do nothing
b) wait for a court summons
c) only after b), pay up incl court costs and interest, etc.

They assume that most won't bother persuing to court summons
level, so even after paying the extra costs of a court summnos
they are quids in.

The trick is not to wait ages on giving them umpteen months
and many broken promises. Give them say 7 days to refund
money in the event of faulty goods. Then after 7 days bite the
bullet and issue the small claims.

If more took this approach, these bastard firms would soon change
their tune.

PS I have managed to get a refund for inadequate s/w from Dabs
fairly painlessly, only took some time getting through to
customer support. I'd say, as good as it gets.
