On my system, using Sound Recorder, I can compress .wavs using MPEG
Layer 3 to 7Kb/s, and still keep near perfect CD Quality. For an example
see http://www.spirit.demon.co.uk/wavs/bg_high.wav. (it's a defunked
file that I just haven't deleted yet). It was squished from 300Kb+ down
to 64 with no ill effects.

.ra (Real Audio) are the files which you create, and .ram (real audio
metafile) are the files generated by the homepages server. I've got a
file compiled using RealProducer G2 to stream, but all I can remember is
that it took me hours FTPing back and forth and some editing of both the
html file RealProducer suggested and the .ram file on the server. I
would save your self the bother and go for an older version, or better
still: use a WAV.

Media Player can begin playing wavs before the whole file has
downloaded, so I'd avoid RA until demon get SureStream installed (why
not already?)
