The death sentence? Whoa man, you're tripping there. He was slightly DUI, he
got into an accident, that part is his fault. He left the scene, this should
also be punished (what's the deal with three counts of hit and run though?).

What he did was thoughtless, that much is true. Was he out to kill somebody?
No. Did he? Yes. Should he be allowed to drive again? No. Should you put an
otherwise valuable member of society in prison for the rest of his life(and
have your taxes pay this punishment)? No way. Should he get some time? Yes(4
to 6 years of actual jail time and 20 years probation seems like a realistic
sentence). Death sentence? REDNECK ALERT!

The crime here is lack of judgement. What he did was inexcusable and he's
gonna have to live with that for the rest of his life. The judge went out of
his way and put out a ridiculous sentence, but your suggestion is even more
ridiculous.
