One other criticism offered was that for a place with so little experience of the outside world we think we know it all. I hate to admit this because it tars me with the same brush but they are right you have epitomised exactly what they were on about. Today for the first time I sat back and really listened to how people talk and think here there are racial or prejudiced undertones in nearly every conversation, delight in the misfortune of others and a undertow of aggression that is never far away. I guess it is much easier to see it as an outsider looking in than it is looking from the inside. Ill be trying a bit harder from today onwards because as much as I hate to say it I can see it in myself as well :-(
