Telstra over all very good and can't remember the web not working. Their news servers though every 5 years seem to haywire. I remember about 10 years back they had a viruson their network which was filling upthe hard drives, but instead of removing the virus they bought bigger hard drives. When that failed they got rid of the virus. > >-- >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ipvdBnU8F8 > - KRudd at his finest. > >"The Labour Party is corrupt beyond redemption!" > - Labour hasbeen Mark Latham in a moment of honest clarity. > >"This is the recession we had to have!" > - Paul Keating explaining why he gave Australia another Labour recession. > >"Silly old bugger!" > - Well known ACTU pisspot and sometime Labour prime minister Bob Hawke >responding to a pensioner who dared ask for more. > >"By 1990, no child will live in poverty" > - Bob Hawke again, desperate to win another election. > >"A billion trees ..." > - Borke, pissed as a newt again. > >"Well may we say 'God save the Queen' because nothing will save the governor >general!" > - Egotistical shithead and pompous fuckwit E.G. Find it odd that this is the only news group I've been able to post in.

Their technical staff appear to be totally unaware of any problem. Have you had any luck in restoring the service? Kate Make sure you have the correct name for the server : news.bigpond.com Don't know how you do it using "Agent" but in Outlook Express, it was necessary to Reset each news group. (Bit of a pain as all the cache news groups are re-downloaded) I got round it by setting "download headers only" and "catch up" before "synchronising" the server. Some newsgroups are still missing from the server, and the Bigpond droids are in denial :-)

But I am getting a message that a Firewall or anti virus is preventing me from accessing the Internet to reach the Newsgroups which is nonsense, as I am sending/receiving emails Regards, Kate
