News poll has Libs only 6 points behind the ALP, no wonder Rudd did another backflip on climate change, now supports Howard on NOT doing a plan for 2012 if China and india are not on the table along with the US. Rudds plan is to follow the opinion polls and Howard and say me too on everything. No wonder Rudd has to have over 300 comittess on everything to come up with ideas because at present he's copying Howard all the way. If Rudd wins he's not have Howard/Costello to reply on for ideas. I think the Australian people are starting to see through Rudd. Not before time either.

Remember Howard's "small > target" strategy in 1996? Fact is the only day your opinion is worth anything is polling day , personally having watch both the abc and then the worm broadcasts there are observable differences which the worm does not honestly reflect . A couple of the elections the ALP was 51% to 49% and 51.5% to 48.5% and still won the election. One of them was against Beazily. Hawke in one election was also down after the election but because he like Howard targetted margin seats won government.

Still if you are right and its 8 points then its still better than the previous week when it was 16 points down when it was 58 to 42 on two party preferred. No wonder Rudd is saying me too again:)

Primaries is the percentage of people who put "1" next to the party of their choice. (That's why when you add up the major party primaries it doesn't reach 100%). 2PP is about effective preferences, and does add up to 100% Primaries ALP 48 Coalition 42 (-6) 2PP (54-46) - 8 (Newspoll) Fran

Fran asked about _primary_ votes, not 2PP. You talk about primary votes when 2PP is appropriate, and 2PP when primary votes are appropriate. You must be worried.
