I grew up with network TV and PBS as cable was a waste of money. During my
college years I lived with people who had cable but thankfully didn't charge
me for it. I never watched it.

Now I live with someone who has to have DirecTV. I don't begrudge him this.
He is a huge football and hockey fan and he pays out the wazoo to get all
the games he can from them. We have yet to find anyone else to offer what
they do for sports coverage. Other than that, they seem to suck like all
the rest.

Most of the sitcoms are recycled so badly we see the same show on the same
channel within a month. We see it again on a different channel within two.
The infomercials are so outrageously crazy considering what we spend for our
TV viewing pleasure. We don't all work 9-5 and the choices in the later
hours are enough to shoot one in the head. Even the channel that shows
Forensic Files repeat so often and (with DirecTV) there is no information
available so we never know what the hell we're paying for watching until we
start and realize we already saw the thing a year ago.

It's all a scam and we have to pick the lesser of all evils. Good luck.
