That, alone, should enable you to really understand, and help, many who are depressed. I'm talking about volunteering with groups like the Schizophrenics society. You have a B.Sc.? That, alone, is one hell of an accomplishment. Many here, including myself, never persevered long enough to finish their degree. For drinking, there is AA. It's free and no, you do NOT have to believe in any particular GOD, just the existence that there is SOME power in the universe greater than yourself. Lack of a girlfriend? That will come, soon enough, believe me, once you start addressing some of your life's challenges. Lots of people on AISH have happy, meaningful lives: I know--some of my clients are on CPP Disability and/or on AISH--they are NOT unhappy people...most of the time. They and most of the rest of us DO have our down times...but we accept that as PART of life. No one always gets their way all the time--life is not life that. It may APPEAR that some people always triumph but remember this--YOU only get to see SOME of their OUTSIDES--you seldom get to see their whole picture. I guarantee you--some parts of their lives suck badly...but they carefully manage to hide that for appearances sake. So, do NOT compare YOUR insides with THEIR outsides. Yeah, I think that, for today, you should LIVE. There's always tomorrow for changing your mind.
