Hi
I hope this helps.

All cases below assume the executable/batch file, etc. are in the same directory.

You USED to be able to use this in MOST C and C++ compilers:
Perl still likes it.

system("notepad myfile.txt");
Notepad, of course can be replaced with any command or .bat/.cmd or executable
file name.

for instance to execute a batch file you can also use.
system("doit.bat");

I'm using this for version 4 of the Borland C++ compiler:

  STARTUPINFO si;
  ::ZeroMemory (&si, sizeof (STARTUPINFO));
  si.cb = sizeof (STARTUPINFO);
  PROCESS_INFORMATION pi;

  if (::CreateProcess (NULL, ("notepad test.txt"), NULL,
  NULL, FALSE, NORMAL_PRIORITY_CLASS, NULL, NULL, &si, &pi))
   {
     ::CloseHandle (pi.hThread);
     ::CloseHandle (pi.hProcess);
   }

PS
If you know this much, you really ought to consider computer consulting.

You can earn more money and mostly take the jobs you want. At least that's
what
I did. Check the programmer consulting pay
rates below. This is from our analysis of over 1000 computer consultants

nationwide. I got the info below from searching The Extreme IT Consulting
Course for
"Rates.Survey". You can read about the Course at this URL:
