Print Error #8940 to HP 1220c??

Hello, 
I have an HP 1220c/ps that I print to using the FULL version of Press Ready (not the lite version that shipped w/ it.) This has worked just fine for over 2 years. Then, suddenly this week, I can not print at all, just get an error that says "Document 'name' failed to print on the printer 1220c because of an error. -8940". 

Has anyone run into this error before, and do you know what causes it? 

After spending several hours on HP's tech support yesterday, they determined that the printer works just fine, and that it is a Press Ready error. 

Unfortunately, Adobe no longer supports Press Ready, and I can find NO information on their web site about Error #8940. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
