Dell 4700, 512 RAM, WinXP/SP2 (fully patched). I tried to update from 7.0.7 to 7.0.8 and was attacked by a myriad of error messages. This had happened in the past and the solution was to use Windows Install Cleanup tool to remove the old version, and download the new version at the Adobe Download site. (Add/Remove Programs never removes Adobe for some reason). Now I cannot download the new version 7.0.8. I get an error message: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to the folder containing the installation package SpellDict.msi in the box below. I did a search and that file does not exist on my machine. Thanks for any suggestions. Bruce Hagen

I guess if one doesn't get a reply after four days, they should just us FoxIt instead? Thanks anyway B Hagen

Since no one here even attempted to help me after four days, (And I did read the FAQ's and Knowledge Base first), I said *screw it*. With these instructions in mind, I got this reply from my fellow Windows Outlook Express MVPs: What happens if you rip out the HKCU\Software\Adobe, HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe Systems keys (assuming that you have no other Adobe software installed). I did this and rid muself of Adobe completely and then downloaded Foxit. Foxit PDF Reader: <http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php> If you need only a Reader. This is IMHO better than Adobe. I am happy and goodbye Adobe. Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express

I had the same problem too - turned out the installer cache information in the registry that the Windows Installer uses to keep track of patches (msp files) was missing all information for Adobe Reader. Not quite sure how it went missing... (key was under here > hklm\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\installer\userdata\s-1-5-18...) Using the MSI cleanup tool fixed it quickly. Spelldict.msi isn't even a Adobe Reader package - which is in fact a self contained msi file.

Thanks for the input, but I already used MS Installer Clean Up tool. What exactly should I be doing after I locate the HKLM key you refer to? Right now, it is simply Value Not Set. Thanks, Bruce Hagen
