Easiest is to use one of the "standard" WAV files (e.g. DING.WAV or TADA.WAV), which get installed on everyone's machine. All of the help author tools (I think) will assist you in adding such a sound. I know HELLLP! will (http://www.guysoftware.com/helllp.html). If you want a non-standard WAV file, you can do that too, but then you have to ship it with your application. -- Ed Guy P.Eng,CDP,MIEE Information Technology Consultant Internet: ed_guy@NOSPAMguysoftware.com remove NOSPAM from email address. http://www.guysoftware.com "Check out HELLLP!, WinHelp author tool for WinWord 2.0 through 8.0 and ParseRat, the File Parser, Converter and Reorganizer"

<TOUNGINCHEEK> Have you checked out the DirectBeep family of functions from DirectX 6? It's great! Why would someone need a "int beep(int freq, int time)" function when you can instantiate a whole bucketload of com objects to do the same thing? Amaze your friends! Scare them away from a programming job! Make lots of money! Viva Microsoft! Ed </TOUNGINCHEEK> Christophe Caissotti wrote: > > Beep doesnt' work with Windows 95. I've tried to do lpDB->CreatePattern(NULL, &lpDBP, DBCP_BEEPALLTHETIME | DBCP_BEEPCONSTANT | DBCP_USETHEMOSTANNOYINGSOUNDPOSSIBLE | DBCP_BEEPALLCOMPUTERSINTHENETWORK | BCP_BEEPEVENIFREBOOTED); But it will only return DBERR_WHYTHEFUCKDOYOUWANTTODOTHAT.
